Description of Linda
A long-cherished wish has come true. Closing the steps is part of this. Closing the steps is the first part of the project "building the stairs closed". The 12 mm risers were perfectly cut to size according to my measurements. Because everything was cut so well, fitting the planks is a breeze. Now I can start fitting a wall rail with planks under the stairs. This will be our new pantry.
How I made this project
A few planks still needed a beveled edge to be sawn off. To make them fit perfectly in the corners of the stairs. Then pre-drill the screw holes in the plank with a 4 mm drill. Then place everything with a blob of Bison Polymax High Tack and 4x40mm screws. Because the stairs are made of hardwood, I had to pre-drill the steps with a 2.5 mm drill. Tomorrow I will seal everything as a finishing touch.
Dimensions of my DIY project
No two steps are the same, that's why... I kept the height of the planks 1.0 cm lower than the height of the steps. This way you can compensate for deviations in the stairs. And it is less noticeable.
