Order poplar interior plywood boards online

Order your cut plywood easily online. You can have Plywood cut to size or milled into various shapes. The most popular shape is a rectangle, but we also cut circles, ovals, hexagons or even parallelograms to size. Do you want your do-it-yourself project neatly finished? Then choose one of the available (edge) finishes.

Interior poplar plywood: what is it?

Interior poplar plywood is the lightweight variant of plywood. When weight plays a role in your project, this is the perfect choice! Interior poplar plywood has a natural, light brown/ecru colour. The wood grain is not clearly visible in poplar plywood, so that the pattern runs lightly through the material. The drawing of the wood grain always runs lengthwise in the panel material. Applications for which interior poplar plywood can be used are indoor carpentry, such as cladding walls or making casings. But also furniture and toys can be made of this fine material. Our plywood sheets are suitable for horizontal applications, such as table tops and window sills. For vertical applications, take into account the risk of warping.

Plywood is made up of different layers of veneer. These layers are glued crosswise to each other. The layers come from large tree trunks, where countless wood chips are glued together at right angles. This results in a stable board, whereby warping is reduced. Finally, the thin veneer layers are glued together under very high pressure and temperature.

Viewing quality plywood B/B

The quality of the top layers of plywood is indicated by letter combinations. There is a letter indication for the visible side (top side) and one for the reverse side (bottom side). This refers to the quality of the top veneer; the quality of the gluing, for example, is indicated differently. B/B means that the top and bottom sides have the same visual quality. Read here more about all the view qualities.

This board material has the appearance quality B/B. Both the top side and the bottom side are of visual quality B. B-quality veneers may have minor impurities. Slight discolourations and minor repairs are also permitted. Minor colour nuances are allowed. Knots and sapwood may be present. B/B is a high quality plywood which can be used on both sides.

Available thicknesses of interior poplar plywood

You can order plywood in different thicknesses. You can easily specify your desired thickness during the ordering process. In this way, you can be sure that the sheet material meets your requirements: both the format and the thickness of the material. The following thicknesses are available: 6 mm, 9 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm, 16.5 mm, 18 mm, 22 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm and 40 mm.

Machining of plywood interior poplar boards

Primed poplar plywood is a soft board material. It is easy to work with. Make sure you have sharp tools to minimise splintering. For drilling holes, we recommend a wood drill with a centre point. Pre-drilling is advisable, but not necessary. This board material can discolour over time, so finish it with a (clear) varnish, stain or paint. Use an edge sealer to finish the edges of plywood, this will prevent the varnish or stain from penetrating into the panel material, which may cause the veneer layers to peel off.

Specific applications of interior poplar plywood

Poplar plywood is very suitable for projects such as carpentry, moulds, but also for decorative applications such as table tops and cupboards. This quality has the advantage that both the front and the back are of high quality, so that it can also be used as a divider. In addition, it is a popular wood type for making children's toys such as desks or desk houses.
