OSB 3 matt: what is it?
OSB 3 matt is finished with a matt lacquer layer. Before this layer of lacquer is applied, the board is very carefully sanded. This makes the board much flatter than standard OSB 3, in which you can clearly see the structure of the chips. Next, the top layers are painted. This layer is not always completely opaque, so you can see the light brown colour of the wood show through here and there. The matt lacquer layer applied afterwards is transparent and shows the structure of the material, although you can no longer feel it (for the most part). It is very strong and can be used for both decorative and structural applications. OSB 3 can be used in dry and slightly damp indoor areas. OSB is made from residual wood, which makes OSB a considerably better choice from an environmental point of view than various other board materials.
OSB is made of compressed wood chips and therefore belongs, like MDF and chipboard, to the family of fibreboards. OSB uses the coarsest wood chips, which are all laid in the same direction and then pressed. An OSB board usually consists of 3 of these layers, with the inner layer lying crosswise on top of the outer two layers. This makes the board very strong.
Available thicknesses of OSB 3 matt painted
You can easily choose the available thicknesses via the product configurator. We have these thickness(es) available: 18 mm.
Editing OSB 3 matt Lacquered boards
Like other fibreboards, OSB is easy to work with. Sawing, milling, screwing and drilling are no problem at all and it hardly splits at all. OSB 3 has moisture-resistant properties, making it suitable for slightly damp rooms. If the end edges are left open, it is recommended to sand them well and treat them with an edge sealer. This is because the end edges are quite rough.
Specific applications OSB 3 matt
OSB 3 is ideally suited for load-bearing structures, panelling, damp rooms. floors and attics. The matt lacquered variant is nice to use for decorative applications.
