Description

MDF Black is an untreated coloured MDF. The board consists of wood fibres that are compressed under high pressure together with a black pigment. The material is therefore coloured through-and-through. This makes the material easy to process and does not splinter. It is important to degrease the material well before varnishing. The material also has an absorbent effect. Therefore, it is only suitable for indoor applications and in dry conditions.

Order MDF Black boards online

Order cut-to-size MDF black easily online. You can have MDF sawn or milled into various shapes. The most popular shape is a rectangle, but we also cut circles, ovals, hexagons or even parallelograms to size. For example, if you have a round dining table in mind, choose the shape 'circle' in the product configurator, or go for a rectangle with rounded corners. Do you want your do-it-yourself project neatly finished? Then choose one of the available (edge) finishes.

MDF Black: what is it?

MDF is a popular board material that can be used for countless projects. MDF Black is a coloured MDF variant and is often chosen because of its smooth surface and because it is easy to process and assemble. The board material can be recognised by its black colour and fibrous structure. Because the wood fibres of MDF Black are enriched with a pigment during the production process, the wood fibres remain visible. This ensures a unique appearance. MDF Black is also a suitable choice if you wish to finish your project by (partially) covering it with, for example, wallpaper; the somewhat coarse surface allows this to adhere well. Do you wish to use MDF for visible work? Then it must still be finished with, for example, a clear lacquer.

MDF Black is both a decorative and a constructive board. This means that you only have to finish painting the board material before use.

Available thicknesses MDF Black

You can order high-quality MDF Black from us. MDF Black is available in a thickness of 3 mm, 9 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 18 mm, 19 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm and 38 mm.

Machining of MDF black boards

The board consists of wood fibres that are compressed under high pressure. This makes MDF Black easy to process. When milling or sawing, this board material does not splinter. The fibres are held together by resin. This makes it important to degrease the board well before painting it. MDF also has a suction effect, which is why we recommend always finishing the edges with an edge sealer. For this reason, MDF Black is only suitable for indoor applications and in dry conditions.

Are you going to lacquer MDF black? Then it is a good idea to countersink the screws and to seal them. You do this by first sanding the board, then mixing some dust from the sanding with filler. This way, the filler takes on the colour of the plate. Then sand and varnish the whole thing neatly in one go.

Specific applications of MDF Black

You choose MDF Black if you want to create an interior project in a black colour. The choice to keep the texture of MDF Black visible is mainly due to the characteristic MDF wood fibres structure that, thanks to the production process, creates a unique texture. Thus, you have the advantages of a black colour with MDF's characteristic visible texture. This unique coloured look makes MDF Black a suitable choice for decorating bedrooms and children's rooms as well as sports halls, shop windows and offices. The coloured look provides a lively basis for MDF Black to leave a unique impression in your project.
