Description of Tijn
A windowsill with cupboards placed in it. To finish an existing window frame, a windowsill has been made that connects to the top and also to the side. The support on the wall and the cabinets themselves create a sturdy whole. The 27mm thick plywood is stiff enough to serve as a bench, but does need some extra support halfway up to the floor. The floor itself is protected with a layer of felt.
How I made this project
The 27 mm birch plywood is supported by the windowsill, the standing wall, the wall and the cabinets . The outer edges have an R2 mm rounding. The side wall is placed first. Small adjustments in the edge ensure a good floor connection and a horizontal position. The felt is glued to the bottom. The plate is secured with thin corners. A strip of plywood is screwed to the wall side out of sight (chamfered). The top plate is placed on top of this and attached to the inside with corners. Sanded to 320 grit, varnished 5 times with scratch-resistant varnish. A lot of attention to dimensions and alignment. The standing edge of the top, 27 mm long, has been manually filed to r2-3.
Dimensions of my DIY project
width 360 mm, 2000 mm and height 350 mm.
