Are you bothered by rotten planks near your crawl hatch? You can easily replace your crawl hatch with concrete plywood hardwood. Also use a boat varnish to protect against penetrating moisture, as Bas did!
Description by Bas
In our house there were rotten planks on the two crawl hatches. We replaced these with custom-sawn concrete plywood panels. We coated the edges with boat varnish to prevent moisture from seeping in.
How did we approach this crawl hatch project?
1. Measuring is knowing.
2. Requested advice via chat and ordered via the site.
3. Two planks were further sawn to size at home (2x recesses).
4. Lip made and attached to the side to make it easy to lift the shelves out. Lip is from a backpack strap.
5. Edges sealed with boat lacquer. Also had a coat of boat polish applied to the top and bottom (optional). But this one doesn't adhere quite well (I don't think that was done quite right :).
6. And finally the doormat on it.
What are the dimensions?
- 1x Betonplex Hardwood 18 mm 99.0 x 96.5 cm
- 1x Concrete plywood Hardwood 18 mm 72.5 x 55.0 cm 1x
