A custom-made gas stove cover, by Werner

In this DIY project, Werner shows how he has created more usable space in his kitchen. Covering the gas stove creates nice extra (work) space. He has chosen to work with black MDF as moisture-resistant and to order these custom panels online.

A cover for the gas stove so that the table surface " bigger" is becoming. The table surface is seated with medium-high stools for eating meals and while working from home.

How I made this project

Made in black water-repellent MDF board that was ordered cut to size and mounted with eight corner reinforcements and also glued. 2 black handles were mounted to make the cover easy to handle. The visible side was then painted in a primer and a double black finish. The edges of the top plate have been rounded so that no sharp edge is visible. The internal dimensions are 5mm larger on all sides than the gas stove. The top plate is 10mm larger on all sides than the rectangle mounted below. Thin silicone feet were mounted at the bottom to prevent scratches.
